Since beginning this website many things have changed in my life but my passion for connecting women to a well fitted bra and following trends and changes in the industry has not, including my personal passion for pretty, lacy and floral things. My mission is to help reduce the generally accepted number that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size and sometimes wrong shape bra to the detriment of their health and happiness.
After a pandemic and two bouts with rare cancers myself and helping my husband fight his battle with cancer our goal became to make a drastic change in how we spend our days. After completing a few necessary steps along the way, Lingerie Connections is now coming to you from our recently acquired 37 foot sailboat called Book of Saturdays. I am currently available for consultations and advice on any bra related topic of interest. I have years of experience in the industry in various roles including fitting, training, buying and mastectomy and prosthetic fitting. If by chance I don’t have the answer you need, I can direct you to resources to help you.

I came accidentally to bra fitting relatively late in my life but probably at exactly the right time from the perspective of life experience and comfort with myself both of which are not strictly necessary to be a good fitter but certainly helpful to the process and the intimacy of the fitting room. Besides which, my two daughters hit puberty around this time and learning about bra fitting I’m certain saved all 3 of us a tremendous amount of tears and frustration! Through the mystery of genetics one is a 32G and the other a 32D. I was lucky because understanding design helped me fit them properly and helped me help them to be comfortable with their individuality.

I was working part time and looking for a full time job when I noticed an ad for a bra fitter on a job search website. “Training provided” were the key words in the ad for me. Like many women I have had a lifelong struggle with finding something comfortable that fit my proportions without gaps and underarm fluff squishing out unattractively. I have the added challenge of having hypo-plastic breasts which contributed to being 2-3 cups sizes smaller on my left side versus my right side. Despite this, I had by this time in my life become more comfortable with my asymmetry through hard work and mental persistence. I thought that a specialty bra fitting store might teach me something and that at the same time I might be able to help others in similar situations to mine nurture a more positive attitude toward their own perceived imperfections. It turned out to be a perfect fit for me and I haven’t ever loved a job quite so much!

I distinctly remember my last attempt at fitting myself before beginning my fit training. It was at least a three hour affair at Kohl’s (no disrespect to Kohl’s) that ended with a couple of white 38B sized bras. Before kids I had a keen interest in coordinating and colorful lingerie which I had set aside in favor of the simplicity of a mostly all white functional undergarment wardrobe! I remember the day one of my coworkers handed me a 34D to try on. I told her she was out of her mind! I imagined that there was no possible way that I could fill a D cup but the difference was astonishing to me. It not only fit just about perfectly but it looked good too! It helps that it was a beautiful French brand and really in the end, so much of a great fit is about quality of design. With that my love of lingerie was reborn. Now I consider my true size to be a 32DDD though for comfort I will often go back to the 34D. I also understand now that 38B is a distant cousin to a 32DDD but back then I was incredulous about the difference in fit and a little mystified. Now I’m here to help demystify the intricacies of bra design and engineering for you! In addition, maybe I can impart a little of the wisdom and perspective on body image that I have picked up along the way.
If you feel so inclined, head over to the discussion board to share the story of your first awesome fit experience.
Maybe it will encourage others to give it a try!
