Yet another six month recap blog! Sail life meets the intimates market.

Happy equinal new year. A while back I had the genius idea to create resolutions in the Spring and April specifically instead of January. In the past year or two I’ve made a mental switch to make them more about intention than resolutions which sometimes have more of a timeline to adhere to. I found that worked against me since I’d often miss a self imposed deadline, get discouraged and abandon the goal. 🗓️⏰
It’s been about an even six months since I last posted a blog so, speaking of setting intentions, I hope to get back to writing once a month going forward. Reworking my website is also on the agenda. I’ve really loved getting back into working with brands and more directly in the lingerie marketplace again following my February trip to Curve NY.
I focused during my New York visit on reconnecting with colleagues in the industry and meeting new people, store owners and new brands.

I also spent time looking at intimates styles and fabrics like these (left) from Anita that could be good fabrics for boat life and the Women Who Sail community. ⛵️ This included shopping for pajamas and loungewear like the cute set below from Aspen Dream. 🤍

There were some swim collections to check out but most of those collections come in the summer at the Miami Swim Week and during the A/W markets.
I had some time to both discover new brands and to see what some of my favorites have been up to recently. The quality, detail and art that go into creating a supportive undergarment never ceases to amaze me. The beauty and the softness and the support created out of so many small pieces of fabric is a wonder to behold both on and off body.
Long overdue highlights from the Curve market in February
I reconnected with so many people that I hadn’t seen since before the pandemic. Every one of them made me feel so welcome. I met a few store owners that I’ve been following for some time and again, an enthusiastic welcome from so many in this amazing, dedicated and hard working group. I love hyping and supporting them in whatever way I can. It feels good not to really be selling anything and instead joyfully promoting connection to the things we need for outside support and inside support.
I have to say one of the big highlights was meeting Dana of AnaOno.

I’ve been hearing about her brand and company for a few years and have followed the building process, particularly when I worked as a post mastectomy fitter at a women’s health boutique. She began designing bras following her breast cancer diagnosis at the young age of 27. She is so kind and inspiring and let me tell you that I didn’t know a fabric could be so soft. She gifted a pocketed bra for me to try for my asymmetry. The fit is superb and the comfort is incredible.
I love the innovative products AnaOno is designing and the work toward cancer awareness.
Another great highlight was being “Fit by Freddy” again at the Eveden Fit Focus event to refresh my skills. Virtual fittings are different than in person.

I feel one can always learn new things. The first time I met Freddy was around 2016. I was wearing a 34D. She didn’t really fit me that time other than to say I was maybe not wearing the best style for my frame. 😉 I was still getting used to the idea that I could even wear a D cup!

She fit me in a 34E Freya which is still hard to believe as a former member of the “Nearly A” boxed bra club. Upon reflection, of course 34E is a truer size for me given what I’ve been adding to my collection recently. All this to say that those letters can mislead you and the things we learned as teens have sticking power even years down the road. Practice unlearning whenever you can. It’s good to be open minded when being fit.

Ending here with much more to come as I go sailing and continue to share some new brands and some old favorites! I invite you to connect with me for the journey! 🌼
