I had mentioned in a previous blog about how nervous I was to begin my fit training. I was shy about my own body, especially with my hypoplasia. I recall how awkward it was to even tell people about my job when I first started. How many people would feel comfortable telling others that they work with mostly topless women all day?!
It did gradually became easier and more comfortable until finally it was no big deal at all. The next leap for me has been to get comfortable sharing cropped pictures of myself in proper fitting bras as well as talking about my asymmetry on my Instagram posts. An important part of my mission with this website and my blog is to normalize talking about breasts and bras in much the same way that some feminine care brands are trying to normalize talking about periods and shaving. So many topics so important to girls and women have this taboo about them that has been imposed by society to the detriment of our collective health and well being.
The longer I worked in my job fitting, the easier it became to set people at ease in the fitting room. It becomes not much different than going to a doctors office. We provide as much privacy as a customer prefers though often once a customer has been fit a few times it becomes a very comfortable process for most. We diagnose fit issues and use our knowledge of different brands and styles to solve those issues. It works best and quickest when you can be in the room hooking the hooks to feel the tension and consider the shape of the breast to determine the shape of bra that will work best and also achieve the fit the customer is looking for. But it isn’t absolutely necessary as the pandemic has taught us. Do you need something for everyday or date night or maybe a bit of both? Options are many and varied if you know where to find them! Many times customers feel so transformed that all shyness about the process melts away. It can even be a very empowering experience for many.
I have helped everyone from 9 to 90 and from the smallest A cup to women at the upper end of the size ranges. The combination of this experience in the fitting room and my extensive experience working with different brands and styles as a buyer I know I can help you too even without being in the same room. I can help if all you need is a bit of advice about fixing small issues or I can help with virtual fitting with just a few pictures submitted by you or we can arrange a private video call. I’ve been able to help a few people so far but my time is still pretty open and still free of any charge while I work out the kinks in the remote fitting process.🧑🏻💼
Next week I will talk a bit more about different brands and styles and how they shape the breast in different ways. For example there are some brands and styles that won’t work for me no matter how much I might like them to! Until then, have a great week and thanks for reading!🌼🌼
